I went to Bar 244 with Christine a couple of weeks ago. We also met up with Nick and Sarah… I haven’t seen them on forever, so it was a nice treat.
Bar 244 wasn’t my favourite place. At age 22, I felt like a cougar… Like it was like an underage bar or something… And it reeked of tequilla. My real problem was that I wasn’t drunk enough… Is it bad that I have to be properly intoxicated to have a good time at a club?
My other problem is that I like black clubs.

While watching TV one night two weeks ago, I saw a commercial that Fela! the musical was playing in Toronto, only for another week and a half.
What I saw in the commercial was: Africans, African music, and African dancing, and that Jay-Z and Will Smith produced it.
Is it that bad that I was sold without actually knowing anything about Fela Kuti?
I KNOW HIM NOW. I also read his wikipedia post. So like, we’re pretty much best friends.

The musical was amazing. The Canon Theatre is beautiful. I love musicals. The actor portraying Fela was amazing and crazily multi-talented. He danced and sang, but also did improv and was hilarious and played saxophone, and was a brilliant actor.

After I saw it though, I had one of those moments where I want to be a dancer for the rest of my life… Or a costume designer… Or a set designer. So much talent on that stage that night… DARN, if it was still in Toronto, I would be tempted to pay the money to see it again. It was beautiful, artistic and so moving… the story of Fela Kuti’s life is so moving. Go wiki him.
My mom and I were going to see Fela! the musical on Sunday, so we thought we would go for a dinner first. And I had always wanted to try Salad King based on my grampa’s recommendation (and I believe my friend Sam also said she liked it).
So I went and shared a mango salad and spring rolls with my mom, and then attempted to eat the Veggie Hot Thai Noodles… but there was much too many noodles for me!

The spring rolls were delicious… I rarely dislike anything fried. But the mango salad was also very good… a little sweet, a little sour, a little vinegar-y, a little onion-y… a little something for everyone!

The noodles were also good, but nothing spectactular… like I could make that dish if I were willing to use that much oil…
But the atmosphere is very cute. Very ikea meets what I imagine Tokyo to be like.

So, even though I am back to living at Hamilton… that doesn’t mean that I can’t go celebrate a friend’s 22nd birthday party in Toronto.
Celebrate it with cupcakes!

My 4 months ended 3 months ago, but I have been working full time and got too lazy to finish my blog.
During my last week, I bought myself a hippie dress to remember my wonderful stint in Kensington market.

I spent most of my last week studying for exams.
And my last night was oddly similar to my first night… a warm night… some drinking in public (what else are University campuses for?)… some indoor drinking… a dance party in a bright blue room… and only the best of company.

I moved out on Saturday April 30th - in the day. Being the last one to move out… I spent the day listening to rap and moved all my possessions to the main floor (but lazy me… I didnt bother to pack much up).
Anyways… I super miss Toronto. It was way more exciting than Ancaster.
Who wants to move with me back to Toronto??? :)
That Wednesday I went home to prepare for my interview the next day.
My interview was at a place where I have worked for three summers in a row now (so 12 months…) and I think it went well…
We will see if I get the job…
On April 19th, I got a phone call that I had a job interview for April 21st. Woo.
Also, my friend Anna came over that night and we just had a nice little chitty chat.
THEN, Nathan and Stacey and I made the greatest decision ever… we would order a late night pizza. Their half had meat on it, and my half had spinach and goat cheese on it. Mmm… what a perfect combination!

That Monday, I studied for exams.
That is a boring post so I will post this photo:

This is me in my messy Toronto room… but look how happy I am in Toronto.
That Sunday, it was snowing! GROSS! Originally, I was going to take my girls shopping on Queen West, but since we were not prepared for the snowy weather, we went to the Eaton centre instead. Krissie had never been before! Say what?? But then again, she isn’t the shopping-whore that I am.

Afterwards, I went for tea and a falafel with Zack. I don’t know what the places were called (Ah… I’m really slacking) but they were just a couple blocks north of Yonge and Dundas. The falafel was really delicious. It was a nice flavourful spicy and it had some grilled vegetables in it too… and the falafel balls were green-ish! The had herbs mixed with the chick pea concoction… they were much more gourmet than the normal places that I stumble into late at night.

The moon was also beautiful that night. Like full and bright… and perfect.
